Chung Mei Temple, as part of the Fo Guang Shan Buddhist Society, was built in 2001 in Stafford, Texas to promote Buddhism through cultural exchange and to serve the community of greater Houston.

Opening Notice

Dear friends,

Starting from 23 Oct 2021, Chung Mei Buddhist Temple will have the following opening hours:

SATURDAYS and SUNDAYS ONLY

Chung Mei Temple: 10am-5pm

Columbarium: 10am-4pm

ALL OTHER DAYS: CLOSED

Sunday streaming of online service will still continue sandbox2.houstonbuddhism.org/streaming

Fo Guang Shan Headquarters

The objectives of Fo Guang Shan (Buddha’s Light Mountain) are to promote the principles of Humanistic Buddhism, and to foster peace and harmony among all people around the world. The founder, Venerable Master Hsing Yun, has guided this effort by providing educational opportunities, sponsoring cultural events, engaging in community service, and extensively writing and teaching about the Buddhist path of wisdom and compassion.

Dharma services are held every Sunday at 10:30 am. While immersing in the harmony voices of chanting, we purify our mind and body.

Tea Ceremony

We are able to find peacefulness and discover our Buddha’s nature through daily activities, such as drinking tea.

Temple Tour

Welcome to Chung Mei Buddhist Temple. We offer guided tours to schools, religious organizations, corporate sponsored events as well as other groups. Starting in 2022, free guided tours are available, 11:00 AM – 3:00 PM, Tuesday through Friday and run 45 to 60 mins.

For an overview of our facilities, please go to About Us / Our Facilities in our menu above (or click here –> Our Facilities). From there you may browse through some pictures of our shrine, library, classroom, exhibition hall, and chan garden.

For a group tour (must include 10 or more people), please make your reservation at least 2 weeks in advance. Group tours includes an overview of Chung Mei Buddhist Temple / Humanistic Buddhism, a short film, “Biography of the Buddha”, plus a tour of the facilities.

Currently, due to COVID-19, face masks are required.

A NEW GATHERING PLACE

The Water Drop Tea House – Come and enjoying a cup of tea in a tranquil environment, so that you may relax and leave your troubles behind. Please also invite your friends and family for a vegetarian lunch gathering.
