To PROPAGATE BUDDHIST TEACHINGS THROUGH CULTURE

To promote Buddhist cultural traditions and teachings, the Fo Guang Shan <\/span>(FGS)<\/span> <\/span>Foundation For Buddhist Culture & Education<\/span> <\/span>hosts a number of domestic and international academic conferences as well as provides world Buddhist proficiency examinations. FGS Publishing House sponsors the regular publication of the periodicals “Awakening the World,” “Universal Gate,” and an ever-increasing series of Buddhist books, CDs and DVDs. The Tripitaka Compilation Department has issued a 16-volume Agama Sutra Collection, an 8-volume Fo Guang Buddhist Encyclopedia, and 51-volume Ch’an Collection.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

To encourage followers to immerse themselves in the sea of Dharma, F<\/span><\/span><\/span>GS<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span> makes libraries and bookstores available at the main monastery and various branch temples. For further dissemination of Dharma to a broad spectrum of listeners, F<\/span><\/span><\/span>GS<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span> provides public lectures, radio, and television programs. When public lectures are held, attendance frequently fills F<\/span><\/span><\/span>GS<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>‘s modern, large-scale facilities to the point of overflow!<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

To Foster Talent Through Education<\/span><\/h2>\n

In order to meet its ideal of benefiting society through the fostering of both religious and secular talents, F<\/span>GS<\/span><\/span> sponsors an educational system with two main streams:<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
