Buddha\u2019s Light International Association was founded in 1992 in Los Angeles, CA, USA by Grand Master Hsing Yun. Over the following years, BLIA established chapters throughout the five continents while increasing our membership and serving communities worldwide. In 2003, BLIA was honored by ECOSOC as NGO in Special Consultative Status with the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations. At present, BLIA has chapters all over the world and thousands of members from different countries.<\/span><\/p>\n Buddha\u2019s Light International Association is organized by lay Buddhists in partnership with the monastics of the Fo Guang Shan Buddhist society, to emphasize the equality of all living beings. BLIA provides humanitarian aid to places in need around the world. While partnering with UNICEF in anti human-trafficking, BLIA Houston is committed to solving problems faced by women and children and focuses on long-term assistance and counseling.
